Effective Fluoride Application, Minimizing ingestion.
Dr. Aaron may recommend primary teeth (baby teeth) to be extracted under certain considerations. These considerations include abcessed teeth, ‘stuck’ baby teeth, and orthodontic considerations for proper growth and development. Wisdom teeth surgery will be referred to a specialist in Oral Surgery.
Unfortunately accidents happen. Rest assured Dr. Aaron Schwartz has much experiencing caring for oro-facial injuries common among children, including broken teeth, lost teeth, ‘displaced’ teeth, and cuts and bruises of the lips, tongues and gums.
A space maintainer is used to hold space for a permanent tooth when a baby tooth has been prematurely lost. If space is not maintained, teeth on either side of the missing tooth can drift into the space and prevent permanent teeth from erupting.
If your child has a stubborn thumb sucking habit or tongue thrust habit, Dr. Aaron may recommend an appliance for your child to help break this habit. These habits can pose serious growth and development concerns if left alone.
Silver Diamine Fluoride, or SDF, is an FDA-approved antibiotic liquid that, when applied to active tooth decay, can stop the decay from progressing further. SDF has been proven effective in ceasing the growth of decay until either the baby tooth is lost, or a more permanent means of treatment can be completed. If you would like to learn more, Dr. Aaron can explain how it may be a good option for your child if he/she has dental treatment needs. Dr. Aaron is one of only a handful of pediatric dentists who use SDF, when needs warrant, in the Atlanta area.
Silver Diamine Fluoride is a safe, FDA-approved, effective way to stop the growth of decay. If your child has a silver sensitivity, please let us know.
